Fulham’s creative midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has revealed that invaluable advice from his legendary uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha, has been pivotal in unlocking his impressive form for the Cottagers.

The Nigeria international, who is excelling in a central role, shared that Okocha’s simple yet profound guidance was to “play with freedom and without fear.”

Speaking on The High Performance Podcast, the former Arsenal and Everton player explained how this advice transformed his approach to the game, allowing him to emulate his uncle’s renowned flair and fearlessness.

“He said to me, express yourself. Don’t be afraid to express yourself,” Iwobi recounted. “I got it from my uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha. He said it to me once, and I literally just watched how he lived his life.”
