The Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Boma Iyaye, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming he has declared interest in the Rivers State governorship race.
Iyaye also refuted claims that he had been endorsed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, describing the reports as inaccurate and misleading.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook account on Sunday, Iyaye said his attention was drawn to the claims, which he noted do not reflect his current position or intentions.
He stressed that his primary focus remains on his responsibilities at the NDDC, where he serves as Executive Director overseeing Finance and Administration.
“At this time, my full attention and commitment remain focused on my responsibilities as Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission,” he said.
Iyaye added that he is fully engaged in advancing the Commission’s mandate of sustainable development in the Niger Delta region, in collaboration with its leadership and key stakeholders.
He further clarified that he has not made any formal declaration regarding a governorship ambition in Rivers State, nor has he received endorsement from Wike or any other individual.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have not made any formal declaration regarding a governorship ambition, nor have I received any endorsement from the Honourable Minister or any other individual as being suggested,” he stated.
While expressing respect for the FCT Minister, Iyaye commended Wike’s leadership and contributions to public service.
He, however, urged the public and media practitioners to rely on verified information and disregard unsubstantiated reports.
The statement comes amid growing speculations about his purported endorsement ahead of 2027 .
