Jigawa State has scheduled October 6, 2025, for the launch of Measles and Rubella vaccination campaign, targeting over 2.5 million children across the state.

The state immunisation officer, Shehu Ibrahim, announced this at a media dialogue and engagement session held in preparation for the campaign.

He stated that the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, in collaboration with the federal government, has concluded all necessary arrangements for the vaccination exercise to be carried out across the state’s 27 local government areas.

According to him, the Measles-Rubella vaccination initiative is designed to integrate Rubella vaccine into the standard Measles immunisation programme to combat the scourge of these diseases, which can be fatal to children.

In a presentation at the event, one of the facilitators, Mr. Jibril Abdussalam, highlighted the role the media is expected to play in creating public awareness, generating demand for the vaccine, and promoting accountability in service delivery.
