Jimsan Smart Agri Limited has intensified efforts to transform rural farming and improve food production across Nigeria by introducing smart agriculture practices, providing farmers with quality inputs on non-interest rate.
Speaking during the 2025 Farmers’ Field Day at one of the company’s cluster farms in Mararrabar Jos, Kaduna, the managing director of Jimsan Smart Agri Limited, Abubakar Saidu Dansadau, said that the annual event was organised to showcase the achievements of smallholder farmers and strengthen partnerships across the agricultural value chain.
He explained that Jimsan was established to promote smart agriculture as a solution to the challenges posed by climate change, such as floods and drought, which threaten food production.
“Farmers alone cannot fully adapt to these challenges. Some don’t even know these methods exist. That’s why we partner with institutions and link them with farmers”.
He emphasised that the company had clustered hundreds of farmers in different communities, providing them with high-quality farm inputs at non-interest credit, adding that the inputs were sourced directly from manufacturers to prevent adulteration and ensure affordability for farmers.
He added that Jimsan has trained lead farmers and crop specialists in each cluster to provide extension services on good agronomic practices, ensuring maximum yield and productivity per hectare.
Also speaking, the deputy director with Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Anto Andy Ogah, who represented the minister said Jimsan’s intervention aligns with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture’s ongoing programmes, especially in distributing subsidized or interest-free inputs.
“The Ministry has already commenced input distribution, beginning from Niger State and soon to roll out nationwide. We will ensure these inputs get to genuine farmers in Kaduna State”.
Also speaking, the executive secretary, National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), Muhammad Abu Ibrahim who was represented by Dr. Hosea Yakubu hailed the resilience and hard work of Nigeria’s farmers and commended Jimsan for complementing the Fund’s efforts to boost productivity, enhance food security and improve rural livelihoods.
He noted that NADF is actively collaborating with Jimsan and other stakeholders to provide quality inputs and extension services.
The district head of Noma, Mallam Isah Musa, lauded Jimsan’s efforts in improving food production.
