John Utaka Football Academy (JUFA) has sealed partnership deal with New Gate University in Minna to advance educational and sports development in Nigeria. The collaboration aims to support young footballers in balancing their academic aspirations with their sporting ambitions, amidst the global rise of football as a major industry.
The partnership was formalised during a signing ceremony in Minna, Niger State, where Usman Chata, vice president of JUFA, reiterated the academy’s commitment to the comprehensive development of its players.
“JUFA is proud to partner with New Gate University, Minna,” Chata stated. “This collaboration provides our players with the chance to achieve academic excellence whilst furthering their football careers. It also offers reassurance to parents that their children can successfully navigate both education and sport without compromising either.”
Chata also emphasised the academy’s dedication to providing opportunities for underprivileged children who possess talent but may lack the resources to pursue their education. “Through this partnership, we can assist them in realising their dreams of attending school while honing their football skills,” he noted.
Mohammed Abdullahi, Registrar of New Gate University, highlighted JUFA’s credibility and strong reputation as pivotal factors influencing the university’s decision to enter this partnership.
“The academy is spearheaded by a Super Eagles legend with an extensive network across Europe,” Abdullahi remarked.
“We reviewed JUFA’s impressive track record and observed their commitment to the growth and discipline of their players, which aligns seamlessly with our values at New Gate University. This partnership signifies the inception of a mutually advantageous relationship.”
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both institutions is expected to pave the way for aspiring footballers who are as passionate about education as they are about sports. This collaboration represents a progressive shift in the synergy between sports academies and educational institutions, aimed at cultivating well-rounded individuals equipped for success both on and off the field.
