Junior Chamber International Empowers Abuja Women, Youth With Skills

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Abuja Metropolitan has organized a skill acquisition training program to empower Nigerian women and to enhance their economic stability in order to contribute to community development.

According a statement issued by the JCI at the weekend, programme  was held to commemorate the International Women Day in Garki, Abuja on March 27, adding that the  training featured various skills, including baking, soap making, crocheting, social media marketing, bleach and air freshener production, Chin Chin, Doughnuts, Peanuts and Yoghurt Production.

Over 120 women and young people attended and benefited from the program. Five participants were shortlisted to receive financial support for their startups.

The JCI Abuja Metropolitan President, Amb. Abende Tyonenge Sylvester, encouraged participants to take the skills seriously and replicate the initiative in their communities. He emphasized the importance of self-reliance and community empowerment, stating that “this skill will help and support us to be self-reliant and take action to empower our communities.”

He also appreciated the partners who collaborated to make the program a huge success including the Nigerian Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Project 100, KLEO Aid Foundation, Diplomat Park and Garden, PreshyHookedCrafts and UPAM Nigeria.

Others included  De Comrade Homes, Aids for Street Adolescents’ Education Initiative and other individuals for trusting in the vision and capacity of JCI Abuja Metropolitan in delivering the laudable and yet impactful project.
