Daniel Ogoshi, the driver of the Nasarawa State deputy governor, Emmanuel Akanbe, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
Ogoshi was kidnapped at a friend’s residence around Ombi 2, near the State College of Agriculture on Tuesday night, LEADERSHIP learnt on Wednesday.
Recall that a retired Immigration officer, Mr Jacob Agada, was kidnapped and killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers around the same area recently.
Recall also that the incident involving the immigration officer happened shortly after the abduction of a former deputy governor of the state, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, from his residence in Rinza community in Wamba local government area of the state.
A family friend who confirmed the abduction of the deputy governor’s driver said the assailants took him while leaving his phone and car behind.
He said he got a call at about 9pm from a friend in the area that Ogoshi had been kidnapped.
He said he alerted the police shortly after he got the information and they moblised to the scene.
He, however, said the kidnappers were yet to get in touch with the victim’s family over the development.
The information officer to the deputy governor, Emmanuel Ehima, also confirmed the incident, which he described as unfortunate and sad.
He said information about the kidnap was still sketchy, even as he said his principal has liased with appropriate authorities on the matter.
The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, equally confirmed the incident, noting that the command was on top of the situation.
