The Member-elect to represent Gbemacha, also known as Gboko West State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aondona Dajoh, has been attacked by hoodlums.
Dajoh, who was attacked at about 10pm on Thursday night in Gboko and his vehicle set ablaze by the attackers, however, escaped unhurt.
The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Catherine Anene, when contacted through a telephone confirmed the attack on the lawmaker-to-be.
“Though he escaped unhurt, his vehicle was burnt down,” the Police spokesperson said.
Our correspondent gathered from one of the close associates of Dajoh, who did not want his name in print, that the Member-elect sat out with a friend on Thursday after a meeting with Gbemacha elders in his house and both of them left for different locations while Dajoh went to Adekaa, a community in Gboko to see a friend.
He said, “On his way back from Adekaa, around 10pm he noticed a car through the mirror driving so closely behind him, not being comfortable with the way the car was coming as if it want to block him, he increased his speed.
“Immediately they noticed that he increased his speed, the said vehicle started flashing him behind and he again increased his speed and ran to a place where he saw many people around Gyado Hospital road and parked his car and jumped on a fence that was closeby and ran for safety.
“So when the vehicle eventually arrived where he parked his car, they quickly came down and blocked his car and observing that there was no one inside the vehicle, they set the car ablaze and fled the scene,” he narrated.
