Your favourite talented and cheeky choir is back with ‘Verse 5’ of their popular, original song, ‘Valentine Is Coming’.
Initially released in the peak of the COVID 19 Lockdown in 2020, ‘Valentine Is Coming – Verse 1’, is all about a young lady Abena who snubbed a Direct Message (DM) from a would-be suitor. On Valentine’s Day, a month post the young man ‘shooting his shot and ignored’, he camps outside Abena’s house, jeering and daring her to show her boyfriend after rejecting his advance.
In Verse 2, Abena is still single come Valentine Day, and now on Tinder as Benzy La Creamy, then at Shiloh, praying to God to come through for her. So claimed the young man.
By Verse 3, the scorned suitor, is showing Abena Bible scriptures, “’Somebody’s son will not find you, you will find them’. You shall not see them, Odoyewu!’ whilst rejecting a proposal to be Abena’s boo. The shade reference to Tiwa Savage and Brandy’s ‘Somebody’s Son’ is brilliant comedy. In Verse 4, the song addresses young women prone to abandoning their boyfriends when they are in the ‘trenches’, only to claim to re-fall in love in their time of ‘plenty’.
“At the chorus of each song verse, Abena is taunted, “Where is your boyfriend? your mates are getting flowers, you are so lonely. Lonely. You are so lonely. You have nobody. On your own.”
You’d think “Oh okay, things are good now. The Abena saga is done.”
But no, they are back at it. This time taunting Abena (who contextually has assumed the status of cocky ladies) for leaving him for Equatorial Guinea, where she’d been stranded at the airport, and her caller, Equatorial Guinea President ‘a no show’. This latest verse, deserves a wink, because when you know you know.
However, one has got to applaud Kabusa Oriental Choir’s consistency, and in extension Abena’s rejected suitor, who blinded by his pettiness, is apparently neither dating or married. Hence, still as single as Abena.
You have got the love this level of dedication to pettiness. Netizens apparently do:
