The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Kaduna State chapter has inaugurated its Zone 1 Consultative and Mobilisation Team, marking a pivotal moment in the party’s strategic buildup toward the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held at the Tanimu Balarabe Conference Hall, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, drew key stakeholders from across the zone.

Hon. Samaila Aliyu Makarfi, a former Commissioner of Finance in Kaduna State, chaired the meeting.

While delivering his remarks, he emphasised the urgency of establishing strong leadership structures ahead of the party’s congresses, scheduled between February and May next year. He noted that the ADC would not allow a vacuum in leadership, hence the need for the meeting, especially as preparations intensify for the next electoral cycle.

Makarfi decried what he described as deliberate efforts by the state government to hinder ADC’s activities, but commended the party’s resilience and recent legal victories.

“Our triumphs in court are a clear signal that unity and determination will lead us to success,” he stated.

He further noted that the Zone 1 meeting would serve as a model for similar engagements across other zones, urging members to brace for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) anticipated release of its 2027 election roadmap early next year.

“We must be ready to present credible candidates at all levels, that is what is required for us to succeed as a party”, Makarfi added.

The ADC chieftain also commended the Coalition leaders across the country, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senator David Mark, Mallam Nasiru Elrufai, Rauf Aregbesola, and Jafaru Sani, among others, who championed the emergence of ADC as the coalition party in Nigeria.

Calling for unity among members, especially those who joined ADC from other political platforms, Hon. Samaila Makarfi stressed that national leadership is already aligned and committed to inclusive governance. He also highlighted insecurity as the zone’s most pressing challenge, calling for collective action to address it.

Also speaking at the event, Alhaji Atiku Saleh, ADC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary and Baraden Maru expressed optimism about the party’s trajectory.

He acknowledged the worsening security situation under the current administration but remained hopeful that with prayers and divine guidance, Nigeria would overcome it and ADC would prevail.

Alhaji Saleh urged zonal leaders to uphold justice, fairness, and transparency in their dealings, reminding them to lead with integrity and the fear of God.

“ADC is growing stronger by the day. I urge you all to put the fear of GOD in all your dealings,” he affirmed.

Representing the ADC State Chairman at the meeting was Hon. Ibrahim Isa, who reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusive leadership and strategic engagement across all zones.

Officials say with Zone 1 setting the pace, expectations are high that other zones will follow suit, laying the foundation for a formidable ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
