Kaduna Leaders Debunk Farmer- Herder Clash Report

Leaders from Koro District and Kagarko local government area of Kaduna State have debunked social media reports of a recent misunderstanding between farmers and herders in the area as politically motivated.

In separate remarks, the community leaders, traditional rulers and political representatives described the incident as an isolated disagreement that was swiftly resolved through dialogue and mediation, in line with Governor Uba Sani’s grassroots peace and inclusivity model.

Speaking also on the matter, deputy speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Barr. Magaji H. Danjuma, who hails from the area, said it was regrettable that some individuals were attempting to politicise a minor misunderstanding to score cheap political points.

“Let it be clear that what happened in Koro was not a communal crisis. It was a disagreement between two individuals, which was immediately resolved through community peace structures established under the Governor’s peace framework. Those spreading falsehoods online are only doing so for mischief,” he stated.

In the same vein, the chairman of Kagarko local government council, Hon. Muhuyideen A. Umar, stated that peace and cooperation among farmers, herders, and other residents remain strong across the area. He attributed the prevailing stability to Governor Uba Sani’s sustained investment in peacebuilding, dialogue, and community security committees.

“Our people are living peacefully. The quick intervention of traditional institutions, security agencies, and community leaders ensured the issue did not escalate. Those trying to paint a different picture do not mean well for our community or for Kaduna State,” he said.

Traditional rulers from Koro and Danta communities reaffirmed their commitment to the state’s peace agenda, lauding Governor Uba Sani’s Kaduna Peace Model for institutionalising community participation, early warning systems, and mediation councils that have drastically reduced communal violence.

They noted that Koro and Kagarko have remained examples of peaceful coexistence, where farmers, herders, women, and youth continue to work together for unity and progress.

“We will not allow outsiders or political detractors to use misinformation to divide us. Our people are wiser, and the peace we enjoy today results from deliberate leadership from the state government and our local structures,” the Ere Koro stated.

Community leaders, therefore, urged the public to disregard misleading social media narratives and continue to support the ongoing government–community partnership that has made Kagarko one of the most stable local governments in Southern Kaduna.
