Kano State House of Assembly has called on Governor Abba Yusuf to construct roads from Dunawa -Gatsika – Tsallaka – Bekawa-Kore – Yammawar wanzamaib – Yammawar Ganji – Tsamiyar Boka in Makoda local government area of the state to enable farmers in the localities transport farm produce to the market.
This followed deliberations on the floor of the house during yesterday plenary presided over by the speaker of the House, Alhaji Jibril Falgore.
The member representing Makoda constituency, Muhammed Tomas, who moved the motion posited that the communities are in dire need of good roads to convey farm produce to the market given the fertile land it possesses.
He said the communities largely occupied by farmers are being constraint by inaccessible roads after harvest, hence the need for road construction to aid their movement and enhance their living condition.
Supporting the motion, the member representing Gabasawa constituency, Zakariya Nuhu, also underscored the importance of constructing road in the area citing the community’s engagement in both dry and wet season farming.
He said, when such roads are constructed, it will boost the socio-economic activities of the area and expand rural access.
Similarly, the member representing Tudun Wada constituency, Sule Lawan, called on the state government to complete the electrification of Nata’ala town and supply electricity to Jili town in Tuda Wada local government area of the state.
He said electric poles and wiring was provided for long but up to date there’s no supply of electricity in the two communities.
He however appealed to the lawmakers to support the motion as it would go a long way in reducing unemployment, hardship and create more wealth in the area.
After deliberations, the House agreed to call on the state government to construct the roads and provide electricity in the affected communities.
The House adjourned its sitting to Monday, April 29, 2024 through a motion moved by the majority leader Lawan Hussaini Dala.
