The Kano State Government on Tuesday led a high-powered delegation to Sokoto State to condole with the family of the late Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, the Sultanate Council and the Sokoto State Government over his death.
The delegation, which represented Governor Abba Yusuf, was led by the Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo.
Other members included the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk Ibrahim; the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umar; the All Progressives Congress Chairman in Kano State, Umar Haruna Doguwa; the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Aisha Lawan Saji, and other senior government officials.
The delegation first visited the residence of the deceased, where Governor Yusuf’s condolences were conveyed to the family.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s first son, Aminu Abubakar, thanked the Kano governor for the visit and described it as a demonstration of solidarity in their moment of grief.
The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the Palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, where Governor Yusuf’s message was delivered to the Sultan, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.
The Sultan appreciated the governor’s gesture, saying it reflected the longstanding bond and unity among the people of Northern Nigeria.
The delegation later visited the Sokoto State Government House, where it was received by the Deputy Governor and the Secretary to the State Government, who also received Governor Yusuf’s condolences on behalf of the state government.
Governor Yusuf prayed for Allah to forgive the late Sardaunan Sokoto, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family, the Sultanate Council and the people of Sokoto the strength to bear the loss.
