The Kano State Government has announced a major breakthrough in resolving the prolonged dispute hindering the completion of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) power line project linking the Kumbotso sub-station to the Rimin Zakara sub-station.

The Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, disclosed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a negotiated settlement involving the payment of billions of naira to clear all outstanding claims by individuals affected by the project.

Dr. Shehu said the governor also approved the allocation of plots of land to all 750 individuals and households involved in the compensation case.

According to him, the decision underscores the administration’s resolve to tackle key governance challenges and prioritise the welfare of citizens.

“We thank His Excellency for this generous gesture and pray for Allah’s continuous guidance in his affairs,” the commissioner said.

He further commended the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, for his support and commitment towards ensuring the successful resolution of the matter.

The commissioner noted that the settlement is expected to pave the way for the completion of the TCN transmission line, a development seen as critical to improving electricity supply and boosting socio-economic activities across Kano State.

Dr. Shehu also urged residents to desist from erecting structures close to high voltage transmission lines, warning that such actions pose serious risks to lives and property.
