Traders in Katsina State have expressed concerns over the persistent rise in the prices of goods and services across board.

Chairman of the state chapter of the traders’ association, Shehu Usman Abubakar, made the remarks in a chart with our correspondent at the Fatima Beka Central Market.  He said their shops were shrinking on daily basis.

Abubakar called on the government to assist them, especially the poor among them, stressing that the government must take action on the current economic situation of the country and only observe a routine treatment of inviting the Central Bank Nigeria (CBN) governor, without any tangible changes.

The chairman, also saluted the courage of the state governor, Umar Dikko Radda by approaching the SMEDAN to propose for N1 billion loans to assist traders, urging that if the loans are obtained, traders should ensure to pay back the loan and should not think it is free.

He also thanked the governor for the resolution to review the allocation of shops at the Fatima Beka Central Market, reversing all illegal occupants of shops to the proper and initial arrangement made by the last administration of Aminu Masari

Assuring traders that the insecurity and power outage challenges the market is facing will soon be of the past, as efforts are on the line with the support of the government to fix the challenges in no distance.
