The bill was passed after scaling the first and second readings and was unanimously approved through a voice vote, and was referred to the House committee on Basic and Secondary Education for further legislative action.

The sitting was attended by the speaker, Hon. Mohammed Usman (Lafiddan Zuru), committee members of the bill, and other members of the House.

Speaking to journalists shortly after, chairman House Committee on Basic And Secondary Education, Hon. Muhammed Garba Bena said the committee had studied the bill entirely which has 37 sections and also invited relevant stakeholders which comprised officials from Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Secondary Schools Management Board, Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board and the Ministry of Justice for their inputs which they pushed to the House for its acceptance as a law.

Hon. Bena announced that if the bill is assented to by the executive arm of government, Senior Secondary Schools will get their board while Junior secondary schools will remain under the Universal Basic Education Board.
