Following repeated clashes between miners that caused unrest, the chairman of Yauri Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Hon. Abubakar Shuaibu, has imposed a curfew from 9 pm to 6 am.

He disclosed this to our Reporter in a telephone interview.

He stated that the decision was aimed at restoring peace, protecting lives and property, and enabling security personnel to regain control of the situation.

According to the chairman, this is the second time such an incident of clashes between miners has erupted in the area. In September, the Council imposed another curfew from 10 pm to 7 am as a result of a violent clash between youths involved in gold mining in the Garin Katta Community.
