Kebbi State government has concluded arrangements to establish a permanent centre for the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in the state.

Governor Nasir Idris announced this at the 15th convocation of NOUN, which was held nationwide and in Birnin Kebbi Study Centre over the weekend

The commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isa Abubakar Tunga, who represented the governor at the ceremony, described the occasion as a significant milestone in the academic journey of the Kebbi Centre.

He said, “NOUN is currently a citadel of knowledge, providing high-quality education to home students. I therefore called on Kebbi people, particularly youths to utilise the opportunity provided by the university to further their education at ease.”

Governor Idris noted that education growth and development remain the topmost priority of his administration.

The commissioner announced that the deputy governor, Senator Abubakar Umar Tafida, had donated N1 million to the NOUN Kebbi Centre.

The director of NOUN, Kebbi State Centre, Prof. Ibrahim Musa, informed the gathering that the convocation was being held simultaneously in Abuja and in all the 36 states of the federation with a total of 24,575 students graduating and out of the number, 160 students graduated from Kebbi Centre with BSC, BA, Master’s and Diplomas.
