Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has said the introduction of CNG- powered tricycles is a deliberate effort to reduce the harsh effects of subsidy removal.

He stated this in Lokoja yesterday while receiving the first batch of the 50 CNG tricycles allocated to Kogi State by the federal government.

The governor said the gesture would ease the cost of transportation across the state.
According to the governor, under the first phase,19 of the tricycles were donated to the National Association of Tricycle Owners, Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association (NACTOMORAS) by the federal government.

The donation was made under the Presidential Initiative.

Represented by the commissioner for transport, Atuluku Victor Levi, Ododo said the initiative would help reduce high transport fares associated with the fuel subsidy removal.

While noting that the tricycles would also promote use of cleaner and eco-friendly energy, he added that it was also a job creation opportunity for young Nigerians.

Kogi State NACTOMORAS chairman, Hon. Amos Onuche Isah, described the tricycles as a turning point in the transportation sector in the state.
