The Kogi State Government, through its Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA), has commended a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) doctor, Dr Onyeka Chima Peace, for exceptional dedication and impactful healthcare service delivery during her service year in the state.

In a letter dated 20 May 2026 and signed by the Executive Director of the Agency, Dr Muazu Musa Omeiza, the state primary healthcare authority praised Dr Peace, who served at Inye Model Primary Healthcare Centre, Enjema Ward III, Ankpa local government area, for her commitment to community health development.

According to the commendation, Dr Peace distinguished herself through a series of community health outreaches, health talks and demonstrations conducted in schools and religious centres, as well as career awareness and mentorship sessions for students.

These interventions, the Agency noted, significantly improved health awareness, strengthened preventive healthcare practices, and addressed key social determinants of health within the community.

The Agency further stated that her professionalism, initiative and dedication to primary healthcare delivery reflected the core values of the health system, noting that her service had strengthened public trust in the facility and surrounding communities.

“Dr Onyeka Chima Peace demonstrated uncommon dedication to duty throughout her service year.

Her outreach programmes, school health education initiatives and consistent community engagement significantly improved preventive healthcare uptake in Ankpa Local Government Area.

“Her service reflects the highest ideals of primary healthcare delivery and will remain a reference point for excellence,” it stated.

In a separate recognition, the Ankpa Traditional Council, under the leadership of the Ejeh of Ankpa and Chairman of the Council, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu II, also issued a letter of commendation dated 29 May 2026.

The royal father, speaking on behalf of the Council and the people of Ankpa Kingdom, expressed profound appreciation for Dr Peace’s selfless service in Inye community, describing her contribution as exemplary and impactful.

The Council noted that throughout her service year, she demonstrated professionalism, humility and compassion, delivering healthcare services under challenging conditions while positively touching many lives across the district.

It further stated that her efforts in improving healthcare delivery and her commitment to patient care brought honour not only to her profession and family but also to the NYSC scheme.

The traditional council consequently recommended her for future professional opportunities, describing her as efficient, reliable and highly competent in healthcare service delivery. His Royal Highness was also quoted as saying: “Your humility, compassion and professionalism have distinguished you among corps members posted to our domain. The people of Inye will remember your selfless service and the healing hands you brought to our community. We therefore recommend you without reservation for any opportunity that may require your expertise.” Both commendations concluded with encouragement for Dr Peace to sustain the standard of excellence demonstrated during her service year, with assurances of respect, gratitude and goodwill from the state health authorities and the Ankpa traditional institution.
