Nigerian singer, film producer and actor Kunle Remi honoured his Hollywood counterpart, Michael B. Jordan, for receiving his first Oscar at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday night.
On his Instagram story, the singer celebrated Jordan, who won Best Actor for his role in Sinners.
He also used the opportunity to criticise the organisers of AMVCA, stating that at the Oscars, your name is already engraved on your award; in Nollywood, it’s not the same, as all the winners have to share one award and collect it at the next award ceremony.
“So happy for MBJ. So they engrave your name after you win! Right there. Take it home! If na AMVCA, all of you will share one for the night, then come back and collect it at the next award”, he wrote.
Nollywood has been facing several criticisms recently, with veteran actor Francis Odega faulting the quality of movie scripts, implying they are diluted.
Another Veteran actor, Kanayo Kanayo, had blamed Nollywood filmmakers who run to YouTube, saying that they destroy the foundation of the movie industry by making substandard content.
