Kwara Govt Presents 5 Boats To Riverine Communities

The Kwara State government has presented five modern commercial boats to five communities along the coastal areas of Kaiama local government area of the state.

LEADERSHIP Weekend reports that the state government recently procured 40 modern boats for use by coastal communities across the state.

The presentation is aimed at boosting economic activities and ensuring the safety of lives of those who travel on waterways.

Presenting the boats to the benefiting communities of Gwajibo, Dada, Masama, Tunga-Bichi and Loko-Moshe- all in Adana ward, the state governor, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq, said tthe primary responsibility of any good government is to make life easier for citizens.

Represented by the commissioner for local government, chieftaincy affairs and community development, Hon. Abdullahi Bata, the governor said a similar gesture had earlier been extended to Patigi and Edu local government areas with the provision of life jackets for safe travels on the waterways.

A member representing Adena/Bani Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Saidu Ahmed commended the governor for identifying with the people of his constituency in the riverine areas through the provision of three modern commercial boats and two fishing boats.

The special adviser on Strategy to the governor, Hon. Atiku Abdulsalam also appreciated the governor for the timely intervention.

The Emir of Kaiama, Alh Muazu Omar thanked the governor for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Kaiama and environs.

The Emir, who was represented by the chairman, local government service commission, Alhaji Umar Shero, pledged the unalloyed support of his people to the AbdulRazaq’s administration and promised a judicious utilisation of the facilities.
