The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State yesterday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure free and fair governorship and House of Assembly elections with efficient use of the BVAS machines.

The major opposition party in the state made the call  during a peaceful protest to the INEC office in Ilorin, the state capital.

It noted  that the use of the BVAS would go a long way in ensuring transparency and accountability.

Speaking with newsmen, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Alh Abdullahi Yaman charged INEC to make the election free of compromise.

He said: “We have come here for INEC to give us assurance that what happened in the last election is not repeated because we have to defend our votes. We cannot allow INEC to compromise on this.”

Also speaking, the PDP youth leader in the Kwara Central senatorial district, Comrade AbdulHamid Adangba, said the peaceful protest was meant to register their grievance on the conduct of INEC in the February 25th  presidential and National Assembly elections.
