The Harmony Boys defeated Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties after the game finished goalless in regulation time.

The 2025 President Federation up final was keenly contested between Abakaliki FC and Kwara United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, in Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday.

Abakaliki FC, who defeated the likes of Enyimba, Katsina United, Nasarawa and Ikorodu City on their way to reaching the final, settled in quickly and could have taken the lead. Striker Okoro Chukwudi met a beautiful cross with his head, but he could not direct his effort on target.

On the other end, the best chance of the half fell to Junior Aimufua, but his attempt came off the upright as the two teams went into the break even.

After the interval, chances were few between the two clubs as the time was ticking away. Former Enyimba striker Wasiu Alalade thought he had scored the game’s opening goal, but it was chalked off for offside.

At the end of regulation time, the final went straight to penalties. Kwara United, who missed their first spotkick through Aķanni Akeem, scored the remaining four goals as Abakaliki missed two of their last three, to emerge 4-3 winners.

As winners of the competition, Kwara United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2025-26 season.
