Kaiama district of Kwara State will today mark the first anniversary of the late emir of Kaiama, Kiyaru Haliru Tsoho.
Descendants of this esteemed figure, known for his legacy of independence and respect, will gather at the historic Dizingo Old Emir Haliru Palace on October 5, 2023, in the Kwara North senatorial district to honour his memory.
The event, organised in tribute to Emir Kiyaru Haliru Tsoho, will feature a distinguished guest lecturer, Salihu Dantata Mahmud, the former interior minister’s personal assistant on media.
Notable dignitaries in attendance will include former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswan and his wife, retired assistant comptroller general of Immigration Abbas Ahmed (Makaman Kaiama), Prince Haliru Dantsoho Mahmud (Dan Iyan Kaiama), former special adviser on local government and chieftaincy affairs to the Kwara State governor, Hajia Amina Ahmed Musa, and Kwara State commissioner for higher education, Hon Audu Bata, along with the emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Muazu Shehu Bagidi Kiyaru I, and other prominent Nigerians.
Prince Haliru Dantsoho Mahmud, a Kaiama native and Dan Iya of Kaiama, commended the initiative highlighting Emir Kiyaru Haliru’s remarkable legacy.
He praised the late emir’s courage in challenging colonial powers in the interest of his kingdom, a rare feat in today’s world.
He said Tsoho’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and rights of his people remains an inspiration.
He added that the memorial lecture will not only pay homage to the late emir but also play a pivotal role in addressing pressing community issues, paving the way for progress.
