KWASU, UK Bournemouth Varsity  Partner On AI, Research, Funding

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has announced plans to collaborate with Bournemouth University, United Kingdom, in research, joint funding, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

LEADERSHIP gathered that the collaboration plan was discussed during a meeting between the KWASU vice chancellor, Prof Shaykh Luqman-Jimoh, and Dr. Festus Adedoyin, a senior lecturer in the Department of Computing and Informatics, Bournemouth University, United Kingdom.

KWASU’s vice chancellor reportedly expressed optimism about collaborating with Bournemouth University, anticipating numerous opportunities for both institutions.

He highlighted KWASU’s existing focus on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy, citing the establishment of the Centre for International Education, Centre for Digital Economy, and Centre for AI by the university.

“These initiatives demonstrate the university’s commitment to staying current with global trends in technology and education,” Lukman-Jimoh said.

Dr Festus Adedoyin, a data analytics pathway leader, expressed confidence that the partnership would yield fruitful results for both institutions.

As an AI lecturer at Bournemouth University, UK, he highlighted numerous opportunities arising from the collaboration, including joint research, joint funding, and many other benefits.

Adedoyin arrived in Nigeria on Monday, April 7, 2025, to deliver a lecture at the maiden Postgraduate Colloquium on Artificial Intelligence.
