A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has implored Nigerians to direct their energies towards ensuring that the country becomes one of the best in the world.

Though Babayemi admitted that the nation is currently faced with many challenges, he maintained that the problems could be surmounted with the right attitude and dedication from everyone.

Babayemi stated these in a statement issued by his media office to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary.

In his Independence Day message to Nigerians, he averred that the country could always be at the front row among others countries if the populace could rally round the government to bring to bear its lofty dreams.

The party leader advised further that the blame game which has become a common thing among the people, especially the elites, must be done away with.

“It’s high time we refocused our energies as a people and country and stop our common refrain of blame game if our country, Nigeria, is to occupy its right pride of place among the comity of nations,” he said.

Babayemi noted that the age of independence of the country must be made to reflect in its growth, saying; “Everyone has a role to play to make Nigeria great. No contributions in this direction can be too small for we are all stakeholders in this project called Nigeria.”

took place at BT Health and Diagnostic Centre (BTHDC) at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), aims to strengthen breast cancer diagnosis and treatment in Nigeria, leveraging the advanced MRI techniques proven effective at MSKCC.

MSKCC team lead, Dr. Jeffrey Reiner, highlighted the significance of the collaborative effort, saying,”We have managed to substantially decrease breast cancer mortality in the United States (US) through these advanced MRI techniques. Our goal is to replicate this success worldwide.”

BT Health and Diagnostic Centre stands out as one of the few diagnostic centres in Nigeria that currently offers breast MRI. Given this, MSKCC is keen on partnering closely with collaborators at BT Health and diagnostic centres, ensuring they are well-versed in the latest diagnostic techniques.

Another radiologist from MSKCC, Dr. Victoria Mango, commended PPC Limited and the BT Health and Diagnostic Centre for their proactive approach.

He said, “It is essential that patients receive accurate diagnosis and treatment, this training will go a long way in ensuring that.”

Mango emphasised the critical role of imaging in breast cancer detection, saying “Breast cancer detection relies heavily on the right tools. At present, in some parts of Nigeria, the primary detection method remains a physical examination. This technique necessitates the tumor to be large enough for detection through touch.”

Mango said, “With imaging, the potential to discover cancer when it is still minute, before it can be palpated by a surgeon, becomes a reality.”
