The caretaker chairman of Bogor local government area of Bauchi State, Mr Markus Lusa, has assured corps members serving in the area of security of their lives and property.
He gave the assurance during a town hall meeting with the corps members and local government council stakeholders organised by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Lusa, who explained that the council was always partnering with all security agencies in the area, added that the council was ready to partner with the NYSC to improve the lives of corps members.
Represented by the director, administration and general services in the local government area, Mr Markus Nahemia, Lusa urged the corps members to be patient as all their previous demands would be met soon.
Earlier, the local government inspector of the NYSC, Mr David Dauda, enjoined stakeholders in the area to encourage corps members by financing community development projects that would have positive impact on lives of the members of the host community.
He thanked the government and people of Bogoro for being friendly with the corps members, adding that the council could best be described as a home away from home to corps members.
In his remarks, the education secretary, Bogoro Local Education Authority, Mr Saul Mamman, said assisting corps members to execute community development projects would lead to greater social impact and sustainable change in the local communities.
Speaking on behalf of the corps members, the corps liaison officer in Bogoro, Mr Daniel Obioma, described the programme as apt and timely.
While commending people of the area for accommodating corps members, Obioma said the event would assist them in discharging their duties effectively.
