LG Electronics, at the weekend, donated a solar-powered borehole to the College of Education, Warri, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable community development.

According to the company, the project is designed to provide students and staff of the institution with reliable access to clean and safe water while encouraging the use of renewable energy solutions. The solar-powered facility is expected to enhance hygiene standards and create a more conducive learning environment within the college.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the College’s provost, Dr Dickson Onovwakpoma Oyovwi, expressed appreciation to LG Electronics for its intervention. He described the project as a significant contribution to the institution, noting that access to clean water had been a major challenge for students and staff.

According to him, the borehole has been sustaining the hostel since its installation, improving daily activities and overall well-being within the academic community.

He commended the company for identifying the institution’s needs and supporting education through the initiative.

The provost also urged other corporate organisations to emulate LG Electronics by investing in educational development and community wellbeing. He thanked the company for what he described as a meaningful partnership with the college.
