The new facility underscores LG’s commitment to increasing adoption of more sustainable HVAC and Information Display products across the residential and commercial sectors.

Speaking at the launch of the academy, the managing director, LG Electronics Nigeria, Hysoung Sub Ji, said, “with the opening of the new academy centre, LG aims to further develop and respond to the growing needs of the Nigerian market.

“While we are continuously introducing technologies and energy efficient products that ensure the best air quality and comfort, we keep our commitment of contributing to the society and build knowledge and expertise to develop the skills of the people.”

He said: “We look forward to expanding our expertise in the market and providing eco-friendly high-level air conditioning systems.”

LG Academy operating officer, Gouranga Mandal added that, “the HVAC industry has undergone new technological advancements in recent years.

“There are new products and solutions being introduced that help increase energy efficiency, cut costs and improve client satisfaction. LG is at the forefront of these innovative technologies such as the VRF system.  With this academy, we want to ensure that we train and upskill HVAC technicians using the latest technologies to produce skilled personnel capable of providing good quality workmanship for the industry.”

Given that Africa is a key market for growth and expansion, the facility will serve as a hub for industry trade professionals to learn about the latest HVAC technologies available, sharpen their installation and maintenance skills, and ultimately deliver better product recommendations and services to their customers.

Earlier in 2012, LG Electronics opened its first Commercial Air-conditioning Academy in the University of Lagos as well as awarding scholarships to 10 meritorious students of the faculty of Engineering of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The facility aimed at enabling students to gain the most up-to-date skills and training in Commercial Air Conditioning.

In a great way, the organisers said, the opening of this academy which has been designed to meet international standards, marks the beginning of a new epoch in the world of Business Solutions.
