The director of the Broadway hit musical ‘Hamilton’, Lin-Manuel Miranda, is set to direct his next musical project, which is a film adaptation of Dave Malloy’s Acapella Musical ‘Octet’.
Post his successful adaptation of ‘tick, tick … Boom’, Malloy is adapting his book ‘Octet’ and its score for the screen.
Set in a church basement meeting room, ‘Octet’ is the story of eight people struggling with internet addiction who an enigmatic figurehead has gathered together to cure themselves of their habits.
Malloy’s body of work includes ‘Natasha’, ‘Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812’ adapted from Tolstoy, as well as ‘Ghost Quartet’, ‘Preludes’, ‘The Witches’, and ‘Moby Dick’.
