A 24-year-old man, Toheeb Ameen, has appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over the alleged receipt of N2.815 million stolen money.
Ameen’s trial began yesterday on a one-count charge bordering on receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court that the offence was committed sometime in March in Oshodi, Lagos State.
He said that the defendant allegedly received N2,815,000 from one Faruk Abiola, who is now standing trial in the court, knowing same to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
The offence is contrary to Section 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Odubayo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties.
She adjourned the case to May 27 for further hearing. (NAN)
