The police yesterday arraigned a 54-year-old man, Fagbamigbe Felix, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged unlawful disposal of human excreta.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of unlawful behaviour.

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 23 in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant unlawfully and improperly deposited human excreta in an unauthorised place. Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 6 of the Ekiti State Environmental Health and Sanitation Law, 2020. He urged the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. His counsel, Mr Idowu Ayenimo, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, undertaking that the defendant would not abscond.
