A political science student, Masroor Adeeyo, has emerged as the winner of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) One-Day Vice Chancellor initiative for 2026.

Adeeyo, a 400-level student of the institution, beat Oshunbunmi Elijah and Opeyemi Odetunde to the second and third positions, respectively.

The first runner-up and second runner-up winners also become Deputy VCs for the One-Day Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The trio who scored 240, 239, and 238, respectively, were among the top 10 students who advanced to the contest’s final round.

The One-Day V. C Initiative 2.0 started with 51 students who worked on the five pillars of creative writing, problem-solving, Book Review, Memo Writing, and Public Speaking.

The students were also required to complete community service on their own before the final day.

The Central Coordinator of the One-day V.C and a Prof. of Mass Communication, Prof. Adewumi Aderibigbe, while speaking with reporters, said the students were assessed by both the university community and external assessors, which began 52 days ago, before the final winners emerged.

Prof. Aderibigbe, who is also a Senior Technical Assistant to the University Vice Chancellor from the Directorate of Career Services, stated that the students were also engaged with technology, since society is in the technological era.

He added that they were designed to be in tune with current realities of life and with what they would expect when they get to the larger society, as it was very rigorous, combining academics and competition.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, commended the winners for their originality and the pains and rigour they put in from the beginning to the end.

The excited Prof. Ogunwole said that if society gives the young opportunities, the sky will be their stepping stone. According to him, anything that prepares the students for tomorrow actually excites him.

“This One-day V. C Initiative started when he was the V. C at Bowen, in Iwo, Osun State, and when he brought the idea to the former V.C in FUOYE, Prof. Fasina, he embraced the idea. The first was done, and here we are, the second one, by this administration, as the V.C. “Look at it, Series of Cash Prizes, Awards, and Certificates”.

Prof. Ogunwole asks everybody to make efforts to join this kind of engagement, saying, “This is how you can build your C.V.

The 2026 One-Day Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Masroor Adeeyo, said he was overwhelmed and excited to have won the initiative, and thanked everyone and all the contestants, saying providence has made them the subject matter of the day. “I thank all for your resources and time”.
