Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has congratulated Rangers International F.C. of Enugu after securing their ninth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title and a second championship under his administration.
Rangers clinched the 2025/2026 league crown on Sunday after a 2–1 victory over Ikorodu City FC at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos, finishing the season with 68 points.
Rivers United ended as runners-up with 67 points after defeating Katsina United 3–0 in Port Harcourt on the final day of the season.
Reacting to the victory, Mbah said the team had brought pride to the state and restored its legacy as a hub of football excellence.
“You have not only brought back the title, which you won in the 2023/2024 season, but also restored the glory of Enugu as the incubator and hub of champions,” the governor said.
He added that the players had “walked the path of legends” and re-echoed the achievements of the club’s historic era.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Enugu State, I convey our profound congratulations to you on your well-deserved and hard-fought ninth league title, the second under our administration,” he said.
The governor also described the victory as a reward for his administration’s investment in the club and sports development in the state.
He noted that the triumph would boost morale ahead of the 27th National Sports Festival scheduled to be hosted in Enugu later this year.
