The medical director, Tochi Hospital, Uzuakoli, Dr. Uwadilachi Okorie has lauded the reforms in Abia State health sector, saying they speak to the government’s concern for the people.

Okorie spoke to LEADERSHIP after the inauguration and flag-off of several projects by the governor, Dr Alex Otti as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office.

He argued that since the return of democracy in the country in 1999, no governor of the state has performed as much as Otti in quality service delivery and infrastructure development.

He said the reforms include retrofitting of primary healthcare centres, upgrading of general hospitals, engagement of medical personnel, good governance, quality education, and infrastructure development.

The medical director, who was accompanied by his wife, Lady Stella Okorie, said the other areas of impacts are urban renewal, street lighting, security, and market reconstructions among others.

‎According to him, the most recent was the flag-off of the reconstruction of the Umunnato General Hospital, which will be transformed to a tertiary healthcare facility to serve Abia North.

‎Okorie, who said the hospital and his family are happy to be associated with the Otti administration, described his emergence as a divine mandate that arrived when it was most needed.

‎He, therefore used the forum to congratulate the governor for his return ticket as the Labour Party governorship candidate for the state for the 2027 general election.
