Microsoft has announced the integration of its AI-powered tools, Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Designer, into its Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscription plans.

The move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand access to advanced productivity solutions.
Originally introduced as a premium feature in early 2024, Microsoft Copilot is now being made available to the majority of the platform’s 84 million consumer subscribers. Copilot will enhance productivity across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and the newly rebranded Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

Subscribers will receive a monthly allocation of AI credits, enabling tasks such as drafting documents, analyzing data, designing presentations, and managing emails.

Users needing additional capacity can upgrade to the Copilot Pro plan, which removes usage limits.

However, access for Microsoft 365 Family subscribers will be exclusive to the account owner and cannot be shared. Additionally, new settings within Word, Excel, and PowerPoint allow users to enable or disable Copilot to suit their specific needs.

Microsoft Designer, also added to the subscription offerings, provides tools for creating visually compelling images and presentations. This app, integrated into Word and PowerPoint, includes advanced features like AI-driven photo editing and object removal. Subscribers will enjoy enhanced capabilities compared to free users, including increased allowances for creating and editing images.

The integration of Copilot and Designer reflects Microsoft’s strategy to make AI tools more accessible and user-friendly, ensuring that individuals and families can benefit from enhanced productivity and creativity. This phased rollout, tested in select markets, aims to deliver an optimized user experience based on feedback.
