Ahead of International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, Miyu Distribution has invited viewers across the world to watch four short award-winning animated films directed by women and about women.
The animations include ‘27’ by Flora Anna Buda, winner of the 2o23 Cannes Palme d’Or for Best Short; ‘I’m Late’ by Sawako Kabuki, Grand Prize winner, Experimental Film, Rhode Island International Film Festival; ‘Blue Fear’ directed by Marie Jacotey and Lola Halifa-LeGrand; and the Stephanie Clement-directed ‘Pachyderme’ 2024 Oscar Nominee for best Animated Short Film.
The shorts produced by Miyu Production highlight specific themes concerning women, from drowning in the dreariness of the mundane, to the fear of unexpected pregnancy, to abduction and abandonment by one’s fiancé, and incest.
Through these films, the producer-distributor organisation and international feature films sales dealer aim to spark conversations about issues women face in private but are too ashamed or afraid to discuss publicly, in search of much-needed solutions.
Viewers can access the films on YouTube via the BANG BANG – A Shot of Shorts channelg
