Mogadishu Barracks Win CDS Abuja Military Barracks Women’s Football Title

Mogadishu Barracks emerged champions of the women’s football event at the 2026 CDS Abuja Military Barracks Youth Sports Championship after defeating NAF Base Bill Clinton 4-2 on penalties following a pulsating 2-2 draw in regulation time on Tuesday at the Aguiyi Ironsi Sports Complex, Asokoro, Abuja.

The final lived up to expectations, with both teams producing an entertaining contest before the champions held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to lift the title.

Mogadishu Barracks made a blistering start, racing into a two-goal lead within the opening 20 minutes to put one hand on the trophy.

However, NAF Base Bill Clinton refused to surrender, reducing the deficit before half-time to revive the contest.

The Air Force side continued to pile on the pressure after the interval and were rewarded with a dramatic equaliser in the closing moments of regulation time, forcing the match into a penalty shoot-out.

In the ensuing shoot-out, the Mogadishu Barracks ladies displayed remarkable composure, converting all four of their spot-kicks with clinical precision.

NAF Base Bill Clinton, however, faltered under pressure, missing two of their penalty attempts as Mogadishu Barracks sealed a 4-2 shoot-out victory to claim the championship.

Both finalists had impressed on their route to the title decider.

NAF Base Bill Clinton booked their place in the final with a commanding 4-0 victory over NN Barracks in the semi-finals, while Mogadishu Barracks edged past NAF Valley 6-4 on penalties after their last-four encounter ended level in regulation time.

The victory crowned Mogadishu Barracks as the first women’s football champions of the 2026 CDS Abuja Military Barracks Youth Sports Championship, following an impressive campaign marked by resilience, attacking flair and nerves of steel from the penalty spot.
