With tents and canopies of diverse sizes and shapes and often use for diverse purposes, it is pertinent to note that small businesses employ the use of tents and canopies as a makeshift stalls for the display of wares where their patrons can come check up on their goods.

Sometimes, we interchange their names but let us note that, if the structure has a roof and supports but no sides, it’s a canopy. If it’s fully enclosed, it is a tent. Usually, canopies are seen in commercial settings, such as fairs or outdoor shows. Tents are more commonly used by individuals for camping.

It is worth noting that, in some of our homes we make use of tents and canopies for a place to relax and enjoy the bliss of nature while sitting outside of the homes for a chat with family and friends, wining or dining or playing games underneath.

There is a wide market for these products as it is mostly in demand either in our homes, offices or for outdoor commercial purposes depending on what is meant for.

Speaking with a trader, Mr. Opeoluwa Adams said, their cost differ, depending on the size (length and width) of these tents and canopies, and what the buyer needs them for.

“We have different types of tents and canopies with prices ranging from N35,000 to N1.3M in stock as some use The cheapest is the portable and foldable canopy for outdoor and the most expensive is the 8 metre by 24 meter Standard Greenhouse for N1.2 million.

“We also have Contemporary Danpalon, Umbrella Parasol Outdoor Pool Canopy, Imported Carport, Event Canopies, Camping Door Shades, Marquee tent and mobile tents and a lot more,” he said.

He affirmed that, this is quite a lucrative business as his patrons ranges from individuals to Corporate businesses that make use of these products for trade fairs or branded for advertisement purpose and also in most lounges, event or entertainment centres, as they also serve as aesthetics beautifying the outlook of the place they are stationed.

While some of these tents and canopies can be locally made or imported, this factor is a determinant when setting the cost price of these products.
