Reigning Kaduna strongest man, Abubakar Moukarim, is set to defend his title as the 2025 edition of the strength contest returns to Kaduna on July 26 and 27.
The highly anticipated event, which will take place at Murtala Square in the heart of the city, is expected to draw top strength athletes from Kaduna and the neighbouring states, including members of the military.
A statement by Mr. Shehu Musa Suleiman, CEO of Mr. Fixit Consulting and organiser of the event, confirmed that preparations are in top gear to deliver a world-class spectacle.

According to Suleiman, this year’s edition will feature physically demanding challenges such as pulling trailer heads, lifting small vehicles, flipping giant tyres over 50 metres within two minutes, and bench pressing a minimum of 140kg.

Contestants will also be tested in clean and jerk and squats with weights no less than 160kg.
Moukarim, who clinched the title in the last edition to wide acclaim, is expected to return with hopes of retaining his crown against a field of strong challengers.

“This competition is more than a test of physical strength,” Suleiman said. “It’s about mental toughness, determination, and pride. We’re proud to host an event that showcases the potential of Nigerian athletes on a par with global strongman standards.”

The Kaduna Strongest Man contest has grown to become one of the most prominent strength competitions in Nigeria, helping to deepen the country’s emerging strength sport culture. It also serves as a feeder platform for national events like the Nigeria Strongest Man, currently held by Ekiti-born athlete Ajeyomi Oluwaseun David, popularly known as “Davidbuffest.”

However, organisers say the future of the event depends heavily on sponsorship. Suleiman lamented the challenges of funding, saying that without corporate backing, it becomes difficult to maintain high standards, offer competitive prize money, and ensure proper event logistics and security.

“Without sponsors, it’s nearly impossible to achieve the quality and consistency this event deserves. From venue setup and athlete welfare to marketing and equipment, the costs are enormous,” he said.
Encouragingly, brands like TECNO and Powerhouse have indicated interest in partnering with the event this year, a development Suleiman describes as “a step in the right direction.”

The 2025 edition is being curated by Paparazzi Kartel, a leading event consulting firm known for delivering large-scale events across Nigeria.

As excitement builds, the organisers have opened registration to interested competitors, urging strength athletes across the region to take up the challenge and prove themselves in what promises to be one of the toughest sporting contests in Northern Nigeria.

“We’re looking forward to a packed arena, roaring fans, and a true celebration of strength and athleticism,” Suleiman said.
