In a strategic move to bridge the gender gap in football coaching, Adam Mouktar, Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), has empowered three former FCT Queens players with grants to pursue formal coaching education.
The beneficiaries, Odigilia Ishoma, Grace Michael, and Nnodim Sarah, have each received N100,000 to cover the costs of the ongoing Basic Level Coaching Program at the prestigious National Institute for Sports (NIS). This initiative is designed to transition their on-field experience into certified coaching expertise.
The presentation was made on behalf of the chairman by his 1st Vice Chairman, Alhaji Salihu Kolo. While addressing the former players, Kolo conveyed the chairman’s belief in their potential and urged them to become worthy ambassadors for the FCT.
“The chairman is deeply committed to the growth and development of football in the FCT, with a sharp focus on human capacity development,” Kolo stated. “This support is a direct investment in your futures and the future of the game we love.”
He further encouraged the trio to diligently complete their qualifications and leverage their unique experiences as former players to inspire and develop talent within their communities, ultimately enriching the entire Nigerian football landscape.
This grant not only changes the career trajectory of these individuals but also plants a seed for a more diverse and robust coaching culture in the nation’s capital.
