Moves To Unseat Tinubu Self-Serving, Undemocratic, Darazo Warns

A staunch supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Khamis Musa Darazo, has condemned ongoing political plots to unseat the Nigerian leader,

He described them as selfish, undemocratic and dangerous to Nigeria’s political stability.

Speaking to journalists yesterday in Bauchi on recent political developments, Darazo said any attempt to gang up against President Tinubu for personal or sectional interests amounts to a political crime against the Nigerian people, who freely conferred a constitutional mandate on the President through the ballot box.

According to him, opposition driven by personal ambition rather than genuine concern for national progress undermines democracy and shows blatant disregard for the will of the electorate.

“Plotting against President Tinubu for selfish interests is a political crime that the masses will not forgive. Democracy thrives on constructive criticism, not conspiracies designed to hijack the people’s mandate,” he noted.

He stressed that President Tinubu must be allowed the political space to implement reforms targeted at economic stabilisation, institutional strengthening, and national cohesion, noting that premature power struggles only distract from governance and erode public confidence in the democratic process.

Khamis Darazo further urged political leaders to prioritise issue-based engagement and support policies that promote national development, rather than fueling division in pursuit of personal gain.

“The Nigerian people are watching closely. History will judge those who choose personal ambition over the collective interest of the nation,” he added.

He also called on citizens, particularly young people, to remain vigilant and resist narratives that could destabilise the country, insisting that sustainable progress can only be achieved through respect for democratic institutions and the rule of law.
