The founder/chief analyst of Nairametrics, Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu, has said financial literacy has become essential for Nigerians amid rising inflation, exchange rate volatility, and ongoing economic reforms.
He spoke at the recent launch of the inaugural MoneyFair-WISE, a financial empowerment initiative designed to help Nigerians translate economic knowledge into practical wealth-building decisions.
The two-day event, tagged Money Fair, Wealth, Invest, Savings, Endowments (WISE 1.0), is organised by Nairametrics and aims to equip participants with actionable financial strategies.
The fair, themed “Investing in Nigeria in 2026: Asset Classes, Timing Windows, Digital Tools, and Risk Navigation in a Reformed Economy,” attracted retail investors, young professionals, pension-focused participants, high-net-worth individuals, regulators, and policymakers.
In his address, Obi Chukwu said the initiative was created to bridge the gap between financial knowledge and real-life application.
According to him, while many Nigerians understand economic trends, they often struggle to make informed financial decisions, including where and how to invest, how to manage inflation, and how to build sustainable wealth.
He noted that the current economic climate presents both challenges and opportunities, stressing that access to the right information, networks, and tools would determine who benefits.
Obi Chukwu explained that the WISE framework is built on four pillars—wealth, investment, savings, and endowment—to promote a holistic approach to financial growth and sustainability.
He added that the event brings together experts across Nigeria’s financial ecosystem to provide insights on markets, policy, and investment opportunities.
He urged participants to engage actively, ask questions, and apply the knowledge gained.
Obi Chukwu reaffirmed Nairametrics’ commitment to promoting financial literacy and wealth creation through accessible information.
