The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) national ex-officio II, Comrade Patience Nnyenime, has commended the minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, for his timely donation and handover of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities to secondary schools across Ika local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

Nnyenime, in a statement yesterday, said the initiative demonstrated a strong commitment to educational development and youth empowerment through technology.

“At a time when the world is increasingly driven by digital innovation, equipping schools with modern ICT facilities is a strategic investment in the future of Nigerian students.

“The availability of ICT facilities in schools enhances teaching and learning by providing students with access to digital resources, improving computer literacy, and exposing them to the technological skills required in today’s global economy,”she said.

“These facilities also encourage research, creativity, critical thinking, and innovation while preparing students to compete effectively in higher education and the modern workforce.”

Nnyenime said that as education continues to embrace digital transformation, access to computers, internet-enabled learning tools, and other ICT resources is no longer a luxury but a necessity.

“Students who are exposed to these technologies from an early stage are better positioned to adapt to emerging trends, pursue careers in science and technology, and contribute meaningfully to national development.”

The NANS National Ex Officio II, therefore, applauded Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo for the visionary intervention and encouraged other public office holders, private organisations, and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture by investing in educational infrastructure that empowers the next generation.

“This initiative stands as a testament to the fact that sustainable investment in education remains one of the most effective pathways to national growth, innovation, and economic prosperity.”
