The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has commended Seyi Tinubu’s various interventions in youth and student affairs.
The National President of NAPS, Comrade Eshiofune Paul Oghayan, stated this in a statement while describing Seyi, the President’s son, as a beacon of hope for the youth.
In the text, he stated, “In the theatre of Nigerian politics—where power often alienates, and privilege tends to isolate—the emergence of a figure like Seyi Tinubu, who chooses to stand in solidarity with the common youth, is not merely admirable; it is revolutionary. In a society where the sons of emperors build walls, he dares to build bridges. In a nation where political offspring often withdraw into gilded silence, he has stepped into the arena—not to command, but to contribute”.
According to the student leader, Seyi Tinubu’s quiet but meaningful interventions in youth and student affairs evoke the words of Plato, who argued that “the price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men” adding that “Here is a young man who, though born into the corridors of power, refuses to let that power corrupt his sense of service. He chooses relevance over reverence, and involvement over indifference”.
Oghayan said Seyi’s support is neither noisy nor performative but bountiful yet boundary-respecting, stressing that he (Seyi) has not tried to interfere with the autonomy of student leadership nor attempted to impose himself upon the organic structures of student movements. “Instead, Seyi Tinubu has emerged as a strategic bridge—linking the aspirations of the youth with the state’s vision,” he stated.
“It is not only strange but suspicious that a certain Atiku Abubakar, a self-acclaimed NANS President from nowhere, now seeks to weaponise falsehood against this young leader. This is not criticism born of truth but fabrication from the womb of political mischief. The coordinated attempt to paint Seyi Tinubu as a political manipulator in student affairs insults truth and logic.
“Let it be known unequivocally: as the President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), I, Comrade Eshiofune Paul Oghayan, have never seen or heard of any instance where Seyi Tinubu gave a directive to NANS or any of its sister bodies to attack comrades or to act as agents of his father’s administration. On the contrary, every engagement the student and youth leadership has had with him reflects integrity, humility, and a genuine desire to uplift the youth without strings attached.
“In Igbo wisdom, it is said that ‘he who brings kola, brings life.” Seyi Tinubu has brought kola to the table of youth development—not to demand loyalty, but to extend solidarity. His efforts have spoken louder than any press statement or political ceremony.
“It is deeply troubling that the Nigerian media—a sacred fourth estate meant to hold truth as its standard—would offer its stage to an impostor whose only credentials are lies polished with confidence.
“To the sister bodies within the Nigerian student movement, this is a call to conscience. We must rise in defence of truth and legitimacy. We must defend Comr. Olushola Oladoja, the duly recognised President of NANS, coordinated character assassinations intended to destabilise the student movement. Silence in the face of falsehood is complicity. Let us not betray our mandate by tolerating impostors and their enablers. Remember that “if the young do not stand for the truth, the future becomes a rehearsal of yesterday’s mistakes.”
“As history watches with patient eyes, remember that the student community stood for truth, legitimacy, and light in this season of smear and suspicion. Let it also remember Seyi Tinubu—not as a prince of privilege but as a youth servant. Ultimately, not the titles we bear, but the bridges we build define our historical place”.
He said, “And to those who try to pour dust into the eyes of progress, we echo the timeless African warning: ‘You cannot cover the sun with a basket.’ Light will always find its way”.
