Nasarawa ADC Warns Against Division, Personal Ambition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC ) in Nasarawa State has appealed to its members and leaders to strengthen internal unity, discipline and accountability as it inaugurates the state executive officials ahead of its political engagements.

The ADC state coordinator, Hon. Abbati Musa Yau, gave the charge during the inauguration of the state executive and warned that internal division and personal ambition could undermine the party’s progress.

Yau said the newly inaugurated officials must regard their positions as responsibilities rather than privileges and work collectively to strengthen the party’s structures across the state.

“Leadership is not simply about occupying an office, carrying a title, or exercising authority. Leadership is about responsibility, sacrifice, commitment and the willingness to work for the common good,” he said.

He urged the officials to discharge their duties with honesty, loyalty, humility and respect for the party’s constitution.

The coordinator said the success of the ADC would depend on the ability of its members to work together and place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition.

He stressed the need for members to accommodate differing opinions and resolve disagreements through dialogue and established party structures.

“As members of the ADC family in Nasarawa State, we must learn to respect one another, accommodate different opinions, and resolve our disagreements through dialogue and established party structures,” Yau said.

He added that his leadership would promote consultation, teamwork and mutual respect among party officials.

Outlining his vision for the party, Yau said the ADC must build stronger structures across local government areas, encourage the participation of women and young people, and improve engagement with communities.

He also called for issue-based political engagement, responsible communication and strict adherence to democratic principles.

According to him, the party must earn public trust through consistent actions, responsible leadership and accountability.

Addressing the newly inaugurated officials, the coordinator urged them to understand their responsibilities, attend meetings regularly, respect decisions reached through proper procedures and maintain open communication with other departments.

He warned against unnecessary conflicts and actions capable of weakening members’ confidence in the party.

Yau said officials must be prepared to address challenges constructively, correct mistakes and take advantage of opportunities to advance the party’s objectives.

He assured them of his commitment to working through consultation and cooperation in line with the ADC constitution and established procedures.

Beyond party administration, Yau urged members to focus on the concerns of residents, saying the people of Nasarawa State deserved responsible leadership, peace, opportunities and meaningful engagement.

He called on party members to respect the law, uphold citizens’ democratic rights and conduct their political activities peacefully.

“Politics should be a means of service and participation in democratic governance, not a source of division or hostility,” he said.

Yau congratulated the newly inaugurated officials and urged them to demonstrate commitment to strengthening the party and serving its members and communities.

He said the inauguration marked the beginning of another phase in the party’s efforts to improve its organisation and pursue its objectives in Nasarawa State.
