Barrister Isaac Danladi, the Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, has been nominated for a Special Recognition Award by Sportsville Communication Services Limited.
The prestigious award ceremony, organised by Sportsville’s Board of Directors and the organising committee, is set to take place on Saturday, 28th March 2026, at the Lagos Country Club, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
Danladi, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, was selected for his significant and lasting contributions to sports development, particularly football, in Nasarawa State and across Nigeria.
Recognised as one of Nigeria’s longest-serving Premier League Chairmen, Danladi led Nasarawa United for over a decade. During his tenure, the team reached two National FA Cup (now President Federation’s Cup) Finals and made two appearances in the CAF Confederation’s Cup. He also nurtured three highest league goalscorers: Victor Namo, Sunusi Ibrahim, and Silas Nwankwo.
His extensive involvement in national sporting bodies includes serving on the Nigerian Judo Federation and his current role as Vice Chairman of the Legal Committee for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Described as a quintessential football administrator from Northern Nigeria, Danladi’s career highlights include serving as the pioneer Vice Chairman of the Nasarawa State Football Association, pioneer Secretary of Nasarawa United Football Club, and Welfare and Team Manager of Nasarawa Amazons Football Club. He was also the first Nigeria Premier League Match Commissioner from Nasarawa State and chaired the Nigeria Premier Football League Club Owners’ Association for over a decade, where he strategically repositioned the association.
Furthermore, Barrister Danladi served two terms on the Technical and Development Committee of the NFF, was a Member of the Organising and Disciplinary Committee of the NFF, and Chairman of the NPFL Electoral Committee. He has attended ten Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and four FIFA World Cup finals.
He will be one of over seventeen prominent Nigerians and corporate organisations to receive awards across seven categories.
The 7th edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition Annual Awards, chaired by Dr. Larry Izamoje of Brila Group, aims to celebrate individuals and organisations at the forefront of sports development and promotion in Nigeria. The event will also mark Sportsville’s 20th anniversary as an independent sports show, broadcast weekly on Channels TV and other stations across Nigeria.
