Nsarawa State government has disclosed that works on flyover and underpass projects in Mararaba-Karu corridors in the Karu local government area of the state would soon commence.

The governor made the disclosure through his senior special assistant on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba yesterday in Lafia.

Briefing journalists, Mr. Ahemba noted that the planned flyover and underpass projects would be completed before the end of 2027.

Ahemba explained that the funds required for the projects had been set aside.

He said the flyovers and underpasses would  be located at the most congested areas in the Karu local government area, a gateway local council to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Sule explained that already, the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB) was carrying out feasibility studies of the most suitable locations for the projects.

He said the approval for the projects was granted by the federal government following request by the state government through the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi recently.

According to him,  apart from easing traffic congestion in the affected areas, the projects will also improve geographical aesthetics, enhance economic development, commercial viability in the host local government area.

“This development is part of the government’s efforts to provide lasting solutions to the traffic challenges, particularly along the busy Karu-Mararaba corridor.

“The project will not only ease the movement for residents, motorists, and travellers but also enhance road quality and durability,” he stated.

The governor noted that the proposed projects when completed would complement the Lafia Flyover and Underpass recently completed by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as that of Akwanga and Keffi which are under construction.

He said the Akwanga flyover located in the headquarters of Akwanga local government area of the state, would be completed before the end of the year while works on the Keffi flyover is in progress.
