Ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the President-General of Umueri General Assembly, Amb. John Metchie, has declared his community’s full support for the reelection bid of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Metchie, who spoke at a rally held Thursday at Anam-Umueri Square in Anambra East Local Government Area, said the people of Umueri Kingdom are backing Soludo for his developmental strides in the community.

According to him, Soludo’s administration built a modern general hospital in the area and has promised to construct a link road that would connect Umueri and neighboring towns to the Chinua Achebe International Airport.

“We are supporting the governor for the love he has shown us. This is the third or fourth time he is visiting our community. His administration has restored peace, unity, and development in Umueri,” Metchie said.

He added that the long-awaited Ivite-Umueri road project would open up the Omabala region and stands as one of the most significant projects ever given to the people.

“This rally is to show the governor that Umueri is 100 percent behind him. Soludo has no competition here because every single vote will go to him,” he declared.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, described Soludo’s leadership as “a manifestation of divine destiny” and urged residents to rally behind him for the continued development of the state.

In response, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and reiterated his commitment to completing the Ivite-Umueri road to boost connectivity within the council area and the airport.

The rally was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, and APGA supporters from across Anambra East.
